A splendid hunter

Tiger beetles are extremely fast and agile hunters, showing wonderful iridescent colors, from purple to blue and green. There are tiger beetles in Denver’s City Park, but this specimen was collected by our longtime former volunteer Tom Piekarski at his home in Yuma County in eastern Colorado.
