From bygone times
Not all moths are small and grayish-brown like the miller moth. The day-flying Jamaican sunset moth is as pretty as a butterfly, or it was. It was last seen alive about 120 years ago. The lowland rainforest habitats in Jamaica where the moth lived were transformed into agricultural land, and one of the most beautiful moths in the world become extinct. The Museum is one of the few places where the moth is preserved and can still be admired.
