Death's-head Hawkmoth

You may have seen this moth in the movies -- the Death's-head Hawkmoth, Acherontia sp. It gets its name from the sinister-looking skull shape on its back. This particular specimen is from the John T. Mason Collection, one of the founding collections of the Museum.
